UC Crew Shortlisted for International Art Award

UC Crew has been shortlisted for the prestigious International Amateo Award, we made it into the top 20 projects from the 59 applications submitted from across Europe and beyond, that demonstrated resilience and innovative ways of delivering creative activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

We were chosen to be in the top 20 projects because of the St Helens Arts activities that we delivered over the Covid 19 pandemic period in 2020 and 2021, these included:

Launching the #StayAtHomeChallenge, which featured a number of Hip Hop arts competitions from home or using the outdoors, the challenge went viral with other countries getting involved and people using the hashtag for themselves.

St Helens Dance Photo Challenge

A graffiti art mural project with St Helens schools using local skateparks to raise awareness about the local issues of littering, knife crime and illegal money lending.

free online dance classes for children and young people

St Helens Dance Classes Online (Free)

and launching the Merseyside Break Dancing History Project to uncover the stories, photos and videos of the Breakers and Break Dancers from Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton, Halton, Wirral and Knowsley.

If UC Crew is selected for the final four projects, they will be attending the awards ceremony Milan, Italy in November 2021.
