St Helens Team narrowly missed out on a win against Tarleton at School Breaking Championships

Posted on 01 Nov, 2023

On Sunday, 29th October, the much-anticipated 2023-2024 season of the Merseyside, Cheshire & West Lancashire School Breaking Championships officially commenced. This prestigious Senior School League extends invitations to all 263 secondary schools nestled within the three counties, encouraging them to present their finest representatives. These representatives then engage in fierce competition throughout the academic year, all with the common goal of accumulating points and subsequently securing trophies for their respective schools.

In an impressive display of skill and determination, two brothers representing Tarleton Academy in West Lancashire clinched the 1st and 4th positions, thereby amassing a remarkable combined total of 350 points. These talented siblings are taught and coached by the esteemed Base Dance Performing Arts Academy, located in the charming town of Burscough. The duo from Tarleton Academy has consistently demonstrated an exceptional mastery of power moves, intricate tricks, and jaw-dropping freezes, all of which played a pivotal role in propelling them to the top position.

Not to be outdone, Sutton Academy also made its mark by securing a commendable combined score of 250 points, with its representatives finishing in 2nd and 3rd places. A noteworthy aspect of Sutton Academy’s participation was the presence of a female athlete, a recent enrollee in September as a Year 7 student. This young talent had previously showcased her prowess in the 2022-2023 championships, proving that she is a force to be reckoned with.

Rainford High School, while having just one competitor, made a significant impact. This competitor, a Year 7 student, faced formidable opponents in the 11-14-year-old category but emerged triumphant, earning 10 valuable points for his school. This commendable achievement placed Rainford High School in a respectable 3rd place overall, outshining 260 other schools in the process.

In conclusion, the 2023-2024 Merseyside, Cheshire & West Lancashire School Breaking Championships have already showcased an array of exceptional talents and promising young athletes. As the season progresses, we can only anticipate more thrilling performances and fierce competition, all in the spirit of celebrating the rich tradition and cultural significance of school-breaking championships.
