September 2022 - Merseyside, Cheshire & West Lancashire School Breaking Championships

38 Breakers from infant, junior and senior schools went head to head this month to compete for the top places in the 2022-2023 Merseyside, Cheshire & West Lancashire School Breaking Championships organised by Powered by Hip Hop / UC Crew.

Talented students who learn the sport/dance of Breaking outside of school time compete in a 1 vs 1 tournament to score points for their school, which ide dependent on where they place in the tournament. Tournaments are typically between 8 students and 16 students per category, but we usually get around 20 junior school competitors.

The winners of the Infant School Break Dancing / Breaking category were:

1st Place - Dovedale Primary School (Liverpool), 2nd Place - St Julie’s Primary School (St Helens) and 3rd - Holland Moor Primary School (Skelmersdale)

The winners of the Junior School Break Dancing / Breaking category were:

1st Place - Fazakerley Primary School (Liverpool), 2nd Place - Our Lady’s Bishop Eton (Liverpool) and 3rd - St Julie’s Primary School (St Helens)

The winners of the Senior School Break Dancing / Breaking category were:

1st Place - King David Secondary School (Knowsley), 2nd Place - De La Salle High School (St Helens) and 3rd - Sutton Academy (St Helens)

The winners of the B-Girl (Girls-Only) Mixed School Break Dancing / Breaking category were:

1st Place - Outwood Academy (St Helens), 2nd Place - Prescot Primary School (Knowsley) and 3rd - Willow Tree Primary School (St Helens)

Invitations also went out to IndepenDance and JC Dance Academy based in Warrington to join the competition.
